The importance of preparation. With other aspects of life, preparation is key in our business. Preparing carpets, rugs, sofas and mattresses before cleaning is important.

Preparation before cleaning ensures that we will deliver our customers rug back to them clean and clear of dust and hair.
This process can’t be completed in a customers home, if we did this they would never ask us back again as dust deposits will fill their home!
The importance of preparation when we are rug cleaning
At Natural Carpet Care, we certainly prefer to take our time and deliver the best possible results with all of our professional home cleaning services. Preparation is key when we are rug cleaning too. This rug was barely showing its beautiful colours when we picked it up.
As the preparation process started, we could immediately see colours emerging, returning as surface dirt started to break down using our tm4 agitation system. This also is effective at removing body oils from the fibres.
This image is a good example of the importance of pre cleaning preparation. Its original colour was almost impossible to see. But after extensive pre vacuuming and agitation, the colours started to return.
Once the final clean / rinse had been executed patterns and colours showed strongly, discovering the rich colours once forgotten.
The recovered water in the image certainly tells a story!
The image above was taken in our workshop, this rug was collected from a customer when we were carpet cleaning in Hailsham.
Our customer asked us to ‘run over’ the rug in her living room. We explained that if we took the rug for an eight stage offsite rug clean, results would be much better. When we returned the rug, our client was absolutely delighted. So much so, we received three new clients because of her recommendations.
What happens when no preparation takes place?
Lack of preparation will return poor cleaning results. We are often asked what our TM4 agitation machine does by new customers. After explaining, clients usually say that the company they had been using before didn’t use one.
Without this part of the process, results are mediocre at best. Often resulting in low stain removal. Thorough carpet agitation will remove considerably more dirt / soil and staining, even if it takes a little longer.
This image was taken after deep preparation before carpet cleaning. You can see human hairs, dust, fluff and much more that was removed from the carpet fibres before rinsing / cleaning.
This dirt pile also has a very nasty smell too. So removing this before cleaning will ensure that the indoor air quality will greatly improve in any room we clean.
On this occasion, much of the hair removed was from cats. Our client was a pet lover. With cats and dogs, regular hair is dropped onto carpet fibres, when walked on, saw the the hair trodden in and tangled in the carpet.
The only way to successfully remove these hairs is via professional carpet cleaning.
Other important positives when using a professional agitation machine include – pile lifting, pile is brushed upwards when this machine is in use. Solution reaching the base of the carpet fibres. This means that the fibres will experience a far deeper clean. As we are National Carpet Cleaners Association members, we understand how important preparation is.
Detailed preparation before upholstery cleaning
Here is an excellent example of preparation making a big difference before cleaning. A dog spent a lot of time on this sofa.
The arms where particularly bad, we used a power brush after applying our cleaning solution. This broke up the build up of dog related deposits on all areas.
We allowed the areas to dwell for around 15 minutes. This gave us time to set up our powerful extraction machine.
As you can see from the image, the difference was staggering. Original colours re appeared. Once the sofa dried, odours disappeared. Leaving the fibres free from any residues. Professional upholstery cleaning delivered!
